Broadcasting / Media Relations Assistant - York Revolution (York, PA)
The York Revolution of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball is searching for a full-time broadcasting and media relations assistant for the 2017 season.
The Revolution enjoy one of the most unique broadcasting deals in professional baseball, owning its flagship station, SportsRadio 1350 WOYK. Candidates for this position will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working for a professional baseball team as well as a commercial radio station that operates its studios at the ballpark.
The position is a full-time, paid internship for recent graduates only, and lasts from March through the conclusion of the season in early October.
Job Responsibilities
Broadcasting:
Serve as the club’s No. 2 broadcaster, handling play-by-play for middle 3 innings of home games and additional road games in nearby Lancaster
Contribute to pregame show, including gathering interviews with players and coaches and hosting segments
Conduct postgame on-field interviews after Revolution victories
Produce daily one-minute “Revs Report” feature, including highlights from that night’s contest
Media Relations:
Writing and distribution of postgame recaps for media and team website
Compiling daily game notes
Compiling and distributing stat packs prior to home contests
Distribution of postgame box scores
Assisting with production of team’s media guide prior to start of season, including composition of player biographies
Posting team news and station promos on organization’s blog and social media outlets
Write feature stories including player Q&A’s for club’s game program
Assist with other team media relations efforts including accommodating press requests and disseminating media credentials
Radio Production:
Writing, voicing, and producing on-air spots for sponsors, team promos, and daily station features
Editing postgame highlights
Creation and installation of daily commercial logs and spots
Assisting with administrative duties including execution of sponsorship contracts and overseeing traffic for sponsors
Updating WOYK website including posting feature audio and station schedule updates
Handling day-to-day operations of WOYK while team is on road
Production of non-Revolution baseball events on WOYK
Requirements:
At least one season of radio play-by-play and media relations experience at the professional or collegiate level
Keen attention to detail and a diligent, dedicated work ethic
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
Vast knowledge of baseball
Be a team player and self-motivator with professional interests extending beyond the game broadcast
Possess a willingness to learn and a positive attitude
Ability to multi-task and maintain high quality of work under daily deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, audio editing software, broadcast equipment, and Adobe Business Catalyst
Compensation for the position is a stipend of $800 per month.
