POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Produce entertaining, compelling programming that attracts the targeted audience and generates ratings and revenue. Must have proven track record of developing fun and unique topics, booking relevant guests, developing a strong working relationship with on-air host(s), and working well in a team environment.
Host informative, compelling, fast-paced pregame and postgame shows for Seattle Mariners baseball games. Grow the audience for these broadcasts by using excellent writing, social media, and interesting analysis. Build and develop relationship with Mariners broadcast team. Must have ability to keep pregame show moving at a rapid pace and must be able to quickly discern the most interesting aspect of a game for postgame discussion.
Host/co-host entertaining and compelling sports talk show. Must have ability to prepare thoughtful, curious topics and present them in a fun, unique manner.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to plan, prepare, produce and deliver content in shows in an entertaining and professional manner.
Ability to build audience by connecting on a personal level with listeners/users and generating loyalty.
Strong writing skills.
Ability to work independently at times, but also able to take direction from management/supervisors.
Comfortable with computer software programs and quick learner.
Basic understanding of operating a radio board and sound production.
Ability to recognize, conceptualize, and develop unique angles and topics within the most talked about stories of the day.
Ability to draw opinions out of host(s) and assist host(s) in developing opinions.
Wide range of sports and entertainment resources and contacts.
Knows the difference between a news story and compelling and entertaining talk topics.
Ability to identify and edit compelling audio and know how to incorporate into show.
Ability to multi-task under constant pressure
Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of passionate, excitable and driven personalities.
Self-starter with ability to change gears quickly.
Creative problem solving skills and ability to think quickly on your feet.
Familiar with laws on libel and slander and familiar with FCC Rules and Regulations.
Ability to integrate programming content on a variety of new media platforms including the internet, text messaging and other newly developed technologies. Word processing and computer skills required.
Aggressive attitude with a strong desire to advance in broadcasting media.
Understanding of time management and how to plan well in advance for show content
Work effectively in a team environment and maintain a positive rapport with staff, management, and clients.
Understand station's brand promise and work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
Previous producing experience and capable of operating studio equipment.
Bachelor's Degree in communication, journalism, related field, or equivalent experience.
Ability to work in a fast and concise manner under pressure. Demonstrated ability to present live and ad-lib unscripted content with continuity, meaning and clarity.
Preferred QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) years + on air experience
One (1) or more years producing experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion
