Internship: Director of Radio Broadcasting + Assistant for Communications - St. Cloud Rox Baseball Club (St. Cloud, MN)
The St. Cloud Rox Baseball Club is seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking individual for a Director of Radio Broadcasting & Communications Assistant Intern for the summer of 2018. The Rox are a proud member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has over 180 alumni who have gone on to play Major League Baseball. The Rox had nearly 60,000 fans attend games during the 2017 season. During their first six seasons of existence, the club has been at or near the top of the Northwoods League’s North Division in attendance while creating an environment that is entertaining for families of Central Minnesota.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (Reports directly to General Manager. This position starts in early/mid May and ends mid/late August)
* Broadcast all 72 Northwoods League games on 1390 Granite City Sports, including pre- and post-game shows, during the regular season (and playoffs if necessary).
* Assist with press releases promoting team initiatives including, daily pre-game stories, in-game social media updates and post-game recaps for the team website.
* Coordinate and maintain press box and broadcast booths
* Compile daily stat packs for media
* Coordinate media requests for players, coaches, etc.
* Serve as the traveling secretary working with the team coaches to coordinate aspects of team travel including notifying restaurants, hotels, and other teams, getting team orders, room assignments, etc.
* Assist in production of in-house video/audio projects
* Ability to work long hours, including weekends, as business indicates.
* Entertains and informs listener audience
* Conduct on-air and social media interviews with team personnel
* Develop feature stories and player biographical information for the game program & website
* Provide Rox alumni feature stories throughout the season
* Produce a 10-minute pre-game audio loop each home game that is played in the stadium
* Work closely with GM to include all sponsor and promotional live reads each game
* Other duties as assigned by GM
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Outstanding Knowledge about the game of baseball
* Excellent writing, graphic design and social media skills
* Public speaking skills and ability to interact with listeners and clients in a public setting
