Position: Radio Play-By-Play Announcer for the Hamilton Bulldogs
Location: Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club - 101 York Blvd, Hamilton, ON
JOB SUMMARY: The Radio Play-By-Play Announcer is responsible for announcing all home and away pre-season, regular season and post-season games. Other elements of the position include hosting and producing audio and video segments, shows and events as well as the promotion of the Hamilton Bulldogs through the use of social media and hamiltonbulldogs.com.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Radio Play-By-Play Announcer for all Hamilton Bulldogs pre-season, regular season and post-season games
• Participate in pre-game and post-game shows, as required
• Produce and Host intermissions using live and / or pre-recorded interviews, out-of-town scoreboards, scoring summary etc.
• Attend all Hamilton Bulldogs morning skates and practices and conduct interviews, as required
• Produce and Host a weekly or bi-weekly Hamilton Bulldogs radio show
• Setup and test radio broadcast equipment prior to all home games, away games and radio shows
• Promote Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts, promote Hamilton Bulldogs marketing and sales initiatives, provide commentary and post photos on Hamilton Bulldogs-branded Twitter account
• Write a daily blog before and after all pre-season, regular season and post-season games exclusively for hamiltonbulldogs.com and Hamilton Bulldogs social media platforms
• Make guest appearances on radio, television and online media, as required
• Emcee Hamilton Bulldogs and other events, as required
• Represent Hamilton Bulldogs at charity and community events, as required
• Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by Hamilton Bulldogs management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• 3-5 years hockey broadcasting experience
• Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, broadcast journalism, communications or related field is preferred
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in producing, editing and distributing audio clips and use of audio editing software
• Excellent attention to detail with strong work ethic and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
• Must be able to work in Canada
