Media Relations & On-Air Talent Internship/Volunteer
Job Description:
Holy Cross Athletics is seeking creative writing, and public relations enthusiasts who are well organized and want to be a part of a fun energetic organization while building their portfolio of work. The successful candidate will assist with writing feature stories, game summaries, press releases, and athlete bios, as well as innovating aspects of GoHolyCross.com. They will also assist in developing creative and engaging content for all for Crusader Vision, Patriot League Network, and our YouTube Channel. This candidate will also contribute work to many athletics publications including media guides, and magazines spotlights.
-Act as the face and/or voice of the Crusaders by providing on-air talent for Crusader Vision through hosting stand-up interviews, play by play commentary, and in-depth interviews.
-Create and write press releases, game notes, and feature stories for assigned sports.
-Help manage GoHolyCross.com by updating and maintaining student-athlete bios, stats, game recaps, and student-athlete spotlights.
-Assist in developing creative content that will increase engagement and interaction.
-Utilize creative skills for producing game programs and media guides.
-Monitor and track Crusader-related activity across all relevant online platforms.
-Strong written and verbal communications skills, knowledge of all sports sponsored at Holy Cross.
-Work closely with Communications, Marketing and Creative Services to reach strategy goals.
-Hold weekly content planning meetings with the External Relations team.
Requirements:
-Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a team.
-Strong writing skills with a specific understanding of how to write and communicate on each social platform.
-Ability to think creatively and visually with regards to the presentation of content.
-Should possess some experience with established Adobe tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. (Graphic design/Photoshop skills a plus).
-Must be trustworthy given access to sensitive information.
-Ability to analyze data and organize into actionable information.
-Highly effective internal and external communicator.
-Ability to produce high quality work under tight deadlines.
-Knowledge of NCAA rules.
Compensation: This position is an unpaid internship that can be used for course credit or on a volunteer basis.
Finalist will be subject to a criminal background check.
