Bilingual Radio Play by Play Announcer - Cleveland Cavaliers (Cleveland, OH)
OVERALL SCOPE OF POSITION:
Serves as the bilingual radio play by play announcer for all Cavs preseason, regular season, and post-season games airing on local radio outlet. Provides content for social media avenues and website. Provides voiceover work for commercials, promotional announcements, and other projects. Makes personal appearances for various community relations and promotional activities in the Latino community, golf outings, partner meetings, season ticket holder meetings, press conferences, and other events. Assists in the selling of radio ad time for broadcasts.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Works with Senior Director of Broadcast Services to develop show content, ideas, format, and general flow of each broadcast.
-Perform necessary duties to make all broadcasts conform to industry standards and the rules and regulations of the NBA and applicable governmental agencies.
-Attends all necessary team related meetings, practices, games, and other events.
-Attends and speaks at various functions, community relations initiatives, season ticket, suite holder, and corporate sales engagements as assigned.
-Spends necessary time and effort gaining information and knowledge while preparing for play by play duties.
-Travels with team for all preseason, regular season, and post-season road trips and receives team rate per diem for such trips.
-Participates in all other Cavs English ancillary programming such as radio pregame and postgame shows, daily shows on the Cavs Radio Network and the web, weekly, monthly, and special radio and television shows, and In-Arena Q-Tube shows as needed.
-Helps develop content and serve as host for various programming on Cavs 24/7 HD radio channel, currently in planning stages.
-Provides content for cavs.com, including, but not limited to daily blogs, video features, Facebook, and twitter updates.
-Works closely with Corporate Sales Team to develop relationships with potential partners and assists in sales process of closing and retaining Hispanic advertisers.
REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in Spanish. Minimum of three years of college or professional play by play basketball (or other major sports) experience. Must have strong knowledge of computer technologies, sending, receiving, and editing audio, and usage of internet phone cards and connections. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills a must! Ability to work effectively and independently on multiple projects. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook computer experience necessary. MUST be flexible during the season, including working and traveling weekends and holidays, and maintain general office hours during the off-season.
