PR/Broadcasting Intern - Frontier Greys (Highland, IL)
The Frontier Greys are a travel team owned and operated by the other 13 Frontier League clubs. The Greys will have their home base in Highland, Illinois for the 2015 season.
The Greys are looking for a Public Relations/Broadcasting intern to work with the club when it is practicing in Highland and to cover their four exhibition and 27 regular season games played in the greater St. Louis area. These games will be against the Gateway Grizzlies (Sauget, IL), River City Rascals (O'Fallon, MO), and Southern Illinois Miners (Marion, IL). You would be the lead broadcaster for these 31 games.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Attendance at spring training workouts in Highland, Illinois (April 29-May 14) as schedule permits
• Attendance at each of the 27 St. Louis area games (Gateway, River City, and Southern Illinois)
• Preparing media notes and sharing them with the home broadcaster
• Serve as media relations contact for these games in regards to potential player interviews
• Conducting social media updates throughout the game
• Meeting with the coaching staff prior to the game regarding any paperwork
• Preparing for and broadcasting the 4 exhibition and 27 regular season games over the Internet
• Conducting interviews for the pre-game show
• Coordinating with the Chicago-based intern to ensure continuity between the broadcasts
• Inserting commercials and/or Public Service Announcements into the broadcasts to ensure that there is no “dead air” between half-inning breaks or during pitching changes
• Pre-recording interviews with coaches, players, opponents, league officials, and anybody else of interest to serve as filler during any rain delays
• Writing, posting, and distributing a post-game recap
• Picking up players from and driving them to the St. Louis airport if necessary
• Updating and distributing the team roster as changes are made
• Assisting the Director of Operations as needed
As the Greys are a league-funded travel team with no revenue being generated, compensation will be minimal.
The ideal candidate will be able to begin around April 29, 2015 and work through September 6, 2015. Aside from spring training and the 27 games at Gateway, River City, and Southern Illinois, job duties will be very minimal and can be performed from home. It is possible to perform this internship while also either taking classes or holding another job. Transportation from Highland to the games in Gateway, River City, and Southern Illinois will be provided.
Candidates must have previous baseball broadcasting experience, preferably at the college, summer-collegiate, or professional level. Candidates must also live near Highland, Illinios, as no housing is provided.
Note: When you apply for this job online, you will be required to answer the following questions:
1. Describe your previous baseball broadcasting experience, and provide a link to where these broadcasts can be found on-line.
