Assistant Director of Production and Creative - Athletics & Recreation
Job Description
The University of Denver has a proud athletic tradition that compliments the school's academic endeavors. In its history, DU has won 28 national championships and enables student-athletes to compete on 17 Division 1 teams. The Pioneers pursue championships, excel academically, and represent both the University and their respective conferences to the best of their abilities.
This position is responsible for in-house production, audio and video creative, graphics, commercials, and webcasting elements for productions and commercial events. He or she will work with athletics/recreation/university community to develop content for webcasting support and troubleshoot problems with all audio/video/webcasting equipment.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Responsible for creation and implementation of pre-production, game day broadcasts, post-production and day-to-day aspects related to video and webcasting of events. This includes creative development of video/graphics/audio elements for events and webcasting, via scripting producing, videography, editing, animation, and graphics.
-Play-by-play announcing, scripting, shooting video, and talent for webcasting events and associated projects.
-Develop and create materials for promotional projects related to webcasting, TV production, and associated projects.
-Assist with daily functions of planning for events, setup, equipment maintenance, event breakdown, and other duties as assigned.
-Assist the 17 Division I teams in their publicity efforts and projects focused on the direction and expansion of all alumni relations, public relations, media relations, sports information, radio and television productions, and feature stories in print and electronic media.
-Write, edit, produce and animate feature stories, as well as design elements related to in game and website press releases.
-Coordinate broadcast plan for televised contests, including direction and content for packages within the broadcasts.
-Serve as liaison to opposing institutions, media, coaches, conference offices, and the NCAA relative to video and webcasting elements.
-Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Vice Chancellor for External Affairs.
-Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Conference, University, and the Department of Athletics Code of Ethics and rules and regulations.
-Contributing to the maintenance and good working relationships with all members of the Division.
-Assuming additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice Chancellor of Athletics and Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations.
Required Skills
-Requires high level of written and verbal skills.
-Demonstrated knowledge of computer graphics, webcasting, broad knowledge of audio and video production and equipment, including videography, writing, producing, and directing.
-Experience with Avid Editing, After Effects, and Adobe Premier, InDesign, and Photoshop software is required.
-Ability to create original material (high level of creativity), ability to manage live production and make creative decisions.
-Extensive knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, and HTML is strongly preferred.
Required Experience
Bachelors degree required (journalism, communications, public relations, graphic design, digital medial, video production, or equivalent)
1-3 years experience in broadcasting, graphics design, production, or media/public relations.
Preferred Experience:
Ability to do on camera standups, interviews, and voice-over work a plus.
