Digital Media Reporter - Seattle Seahawks (Renton, WA)
SUMMARY
The Seattle Seahawks Digital Media Reporter will serve as the primary writer for the Seattle Seahawks digital media department. This position will produce written content for a variety of digital platforms including, but not limited to, Seahawks.com, Seahawks Mobile, email newsletters, and the team’s official social media accounts. In addition, this position will also serve as an on-camera personality as needed. Time for this position will be split between two mediums as follows: 80% written content, 20% on-camera video content.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Produce daily written content including practice reports, player/coaches features, game stories and team analysis.
Serve as on-camera host and personality as needed.
Cover community events and team appearances throughout the year.
Self post and publish content in a timely manner to team’s website content management system.
Contribute to Seahawks Broadcasting radio shows and television shows as needed.
Conduct players and coaches interviews on and off camera as needed.
Assist other internal departments with copywriting and editing as needed.
Develop strong working relationships with players, coaches, and staff.
Produce content that adheres to organizational public relations policies.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Understand history and tradition of the Seattle Seahawks, on and off the field.
Experience with being on-camera and hosting video packages.
Demonstrated proficiency in professional football journalism.
Excellent communication, attention to detail and proof-reading skills.
Strong understanding of social media and its place in modern journalism.
Ability to navigate the very sensitive relationship between a writer and football operations.
Strong understanding of web media – timeliness, speed, trends.
Ability to work weekends and non-traditional hours as dictated by the NFL schedule.
This job will include travel on an aircraft. Must also be able to travel outside the United States on occasion.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
3+ years of writing experience for media publication or professional sports team.
Familiarity with HTML, graphic design and content management systems is preferred.
