Job Title: Broadcasting & Media Relations Intern
Reports to: Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations
Internship Overview: The Joliet Slammers are looking for a broadcasting and media relations intern for the 2015 summer. The Slammers are a professional baseball team in the independent Frontier League. They play at beautiful Silver Cross Field in downtown Joliet. Joliet is located about an hour southwest of Chicago. This intern will only be required to work home games during the season and will be expected to report four hours before game time. Start date is immediately. The Slammers’ regular season home schedule runs through September 6. This is an unpaid position and interns should have their own mode of transportation and own housing.
Responsibilities include:
• Recording a pre-game interview with the team manager.
• Writing down the starting lineups and distributing them to appropriate media and Slammers personnel.
• Updating the team’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages during each home game.
• Writing the game recap for each home game, sending it out to the Slammers media list and posting the recap to the web.
• A live post-game interview on the field with the player of the game after each home win.
• If desired and if deemed ready, the middle three innings of play-by-play during each home game.
• One feature story for the web per week.
• Anything else assigned by Slammers front office staff
Required skills:
• Strong writer who is an expert at social media.
• Familiarity with website maintenance.
• Some form of baseball broadcasting experience.
• Must be willing to work hard and keep odd hours.
