Director of Broadcasting - Traverse City Beach Bums (Traverse City, MI)
Will be responsible for the broadcasting all 96 games regular season games and post season action as needed for the TRAVERSE CITY BEACH BUMS. Reports to the Leslye Wuerfel, General Manager.
DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
-Compile and design The Sandbox News (Beach Bums Newsletter) and be responsible for its timely distribution
-Website maintenance and design
-Meet with all types of area media to promote the TRAVERSE CITY BEACH BUMS
-Strive at all times to make the TRAVERSE CITY BEACH BUMS a first-class professional sports organization; work diligently to build and strengthen relationships with corporate partners, the media, the fans and the community
-Additional duties as assigned by the general manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION includes but is not limited to:
-Respond quickly with daily media requests such as statistical research, player interviews and photo shoots
-Collect and distribute the Beach Bums’ daily press clippings
-Complete research projects for the media guide and daily game notes
-Assist with press box operations during games
-Help other departments (Promotions, Community Relations, Baseball Ops, etc.) to promote TRAVERSE CITY BEACH BUMS Baseball
Must be available to broadcast all 96 games home and away during the 2016 season (May 12 - September 4 regular season) plus post-season play if applicable.
Extensive Travel: Travel with the team, per diem while on the road.
In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:
-Baseball Broadcast Experience
-Strong computer skills and working knowledge of a wide range of software
-Significant background and experience in baseball PR or college athletic communications, sports information, etc.
-Superior knowledge of baseball rules and baseball history
-A great imagination w design experience and a creative writing background
-Team Loyalty — work for the betterment of the TRAVERSE CITY BEACH BUMS
-Strong interpersonal skills a must
-Superior organizational habits and ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to unforeseen changes in the daily schedule/routine
-Strong attention to detail
-Must be goal oriented, hard working, teachable and driven to be the best
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: As directed by management
HOURS OF WORK: Typical hours of non-game day work will be 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (and beyond). This position has important game day responsibilities. Estimated game day hours will be 9 AM – 11 PM (and beyond).
START DATE: Seasonal position: April 15th through September 30, 2016
SALARY: $1500 to $1800/month Commensurate with experience
