Radio Broadcaster (Seasonal) - Greensboro Swarm (Greensboro, NC)
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Radio Broadcaster position will serve as the radio voice for Greensboro Swarm games. The primary responsibility will be to engage our listeners while providing commentary and analysis as well as interviews.
-Play-by-play broadcaster for all 24 Swarms home games and possibly post- season games and contribute to pregame, halftime and postgame reports
-Conduct interviews with players and coaches
-Become well-researched on the Swarm organization, including coaches, players and history, as well as the NBA Development League
-Keep current on activities and events that impact the Swarm, the NBA Development League and the Swarm’s NBA affiliate, the Charlotte Hornets
-Create family-friendly commentary that focuses on both large-scale and Greensboro Swarm fan experience
-Generate ideas for featured content, including stories about Swarm players and coaches, the NBA Development League, etc.
-Set up and break down all radio equipment for each game
-Attend additional team events as necessary
-Act as an ambassador for the Swarm
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES
(To perform the job successfully, the candidate should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this job.)
-Speak clearly, pronounce complex names, must be comfortable with speaking to large audience, strong written and oral communication skills
-Strong knowledge of NBA Development League rules and positions
-Must be able to follow a timeline and be alert at all times during events
-Candidates should be organized and professional
-Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment
-Able to communicate well with coaches, players, and staff in interviews
-Ability to attend all preseason, regular season, and postseason games
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
-College degree
-Prior experience as a sports, play by play announcer, or television/radio announcer is preferred
-Experience with a variety of microphone systems preferred
