Springfield Falcons Broadcaster
The Springfield Falcons, top AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, are accepting applications for the Broadcaster position. This candidate will serve as the voice of the Springfield Falcons as the play-by-play broadcaster and act as the official statistician.
Job Duties:
Conduct radio and/or television broadcasts and play-by-play for every Falcons game, including preseason, regular season and post-season
Serve as the liaison between the Falcons and team radio
Maintain team and player stats as the official statistician for the Falcons
Develop all radio advertisement copy
Shoot and edit productions for the Falcons official website
Conduct Falcons TV interviews with players and coaches for broadcasts, website and social media
Develop and maintain game day press notes
Act as on-camera talent for various features
Write and publish a weekly release, including a week recap, upcoming games, player notes, team notes and other relevant team information
Responsible for meeting corporate sales goals
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Communications or a related field
2-5 years previous experience in sports broadcasting
Proficiency in video editing
Ability to travel with the team to all away games
Ability to work nontraditional hours, including night, weekends and holidays
Strong creative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Extensive knowledge of the rules of ice hockey and statistical information
