Broadcaster/Media Relations Manager - Greenville Road Warriors (Greenville, SC)
Overview: The Broadcaster/Media Relations Manager will serve as the team’s primary point of contact for local and national media outlets while also serving as the organization’s play-by-play voice for radio and internet game broadcasts. This position will work with the General Manager to strengthen the organization’s perception and positioning with the local media and to promote the team’s community relations, corporate partnership, marketing and promotional efforts/initiatives in addition to garnering daily sports coverage for the organization and our players. This position will also serve as a member of the Road Warriors ticket sales team and be responsible for both season and group ticket sales.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Serve as the team’s play-by-play broadcaster for all pre-season, regular season and playoff games.
· Cultivate and manage relationships with local media entities including news directors, reporters and on-air talent.
· Develop team media strategy aimed at generating positive coverage for the team’s players, coaches, management and arena.
· Leverage media relationships to garner positive coverage for team business initiatives and events.
· Write press releases and work with Digital & Creative Services Coordinator on website content and features.
· Work with Digital & Creative Services Coordinator on the creation and development of the team media guide.
· Manage and develop broadcast functions including affiliate relations, broadcast format and corporate partner on-air fulfillment.
· Manage game day media set up including press room, press box, and credentialing.
· Manage all media requests for interviews with players, coaches, owner and GM.
· Produce and maintain game notes and related media collateral materials.
· Serve as the team’s primary communications/broadcast contact for the League Communications Department.
· Serve as the team’s primary contact for NeuLion and ensure fulfillment of team obligations per the League agreement.
· Ensure compliance with League mandates and regulations regarding game night media information.
· Maintain the team roster on LeagueStat.com.
· Pitch stories and generate non-sports media coverage for team business initiatives.
Ticket/Corporate Sales Role:
· Sell season tickets, partial plans and group tickets as an active member of the ticket sales team. Minimum phone call and appointment quotas will be applied to this position.
· Sell entry level corporate partnerships and secure trade agreements for training camp meals as well as regular season and post season media meals.
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum of two years PR/Media Relations and broadcasting experience.
· Demonstrated proficiency and quality as a play-by-play announcer.
· Excellent written and verbal skills.
· Willingness to work unconventional hours, holidays & weekends.
· Ability to travel.
· Knowledge of hockey operations.
· Knowledge of radio equipment, audio equipment and audio editing.
· Highly organized with an acute attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to handle high-pressure situations.
· High degree of professionalism & character.
· Self-motivated, impeccable work ethic and ability to work independently a must.
· Corporate/media sales & service experience preferred.
