Assistant, Broadcast (Part-Time) - Washington Capitals (Washington, DC)
Monumental Sports & Entertainment owns and operates three professional sports teams: the NBA's Washington Wizards, the NHL's Washington Capitals, and the WNBA's Washington Mystics. Monumental, which merged Lincoln Holdings and Washington Sports & Entertainment on June 10, 2010, also owns and operates Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in Washington, D.C. Additionally, the group operates Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the Capitals' state-of-the-art training facility in Arlington, Va., and George Mason University's EagleBank Arena, located in Fairfax, Va.
Overview: Provide broadcast assistance to Director of Broadcasting in an on-air and behind the scenes capacity, for both the Capitals Radio Network and Caps Radio 24/7.
Responsibilities:
Anchor pregame and postgame shows on Capitals Radio Network.
Collect audio from media availabilities, after practices and games at home.
Create audio montages to be used during game broadcasts and on 24/7.
Anchor news updates on 24/7.
Create and implement imaging ideas for 24/7.
Help collect audio elements from outside sources (Hershey and South Carolina reports, audio from other NHL teams for news reports, other NHL goal calls, etc.).
Assist in building music library.
Oversee distribution of audio clips to local and national media.
Manage weekly All-Access radio show.
Provide production assistance for any 24/7 live shows (such as Caps on the Fly redux, etc).
Represent the organization in phone interviews if requested.
Oversee and maintain organization of archive of all audio for historical purposes (full games, historical moments, easy to access if needed).
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree.
3+ years professional broadcasting experience, professional hockey preferred.
Strong writing and presentation skills for on-air.
Three years audio editing, Adobe Audition or equivalent.
Play-by-play experience preferred but not required.
Musical background preferred.
Audio sample of both on-air and production work required.
