Media Relations and Broadcasting Assistant (Seasonal) - Frisco RoughRiders (Frisco, TX)
The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, are hiring two (2) Media Relations and Broadcasting Assistants for the 2016 season.
Supervisor: Nathan Barnett, Manager of Broadcasting & Media Development
Start date: March 2, 2016 (willing to be flexible for the right candidate)
End date: End of the season (early/mid-September, depending on playoffs)
Compensation: Monthly stipend, TBA
Job Responsibilities
Writing
· Produce player biographies, feature stories, and stats for “PlayBall!” game program
· Write game recaps games & feature stories for other team-affiliated publications
· Produce daily trends for Game Notes packet
· Create and execute posts for team’s blog
· Write, distribute, and post online/social media various baseball, marketing, and promotions press releases
Media Relations
· Assist with all media relations efforts including finalizing media guide, issuing press releases, accommodating interview requests, administering media credentials, creating & distributing stat packs as well as other media information and other related duties
· Post on and help run all social media platforms with engaging campaigns and initiatives
· Assist in updating team website
· Graphic design: through use of software programs, handle minor graphic design projects, particularly as they pertain to the team's website and social media platforms
· Help maintain team media record (newspaper clippings, on-line stories, etc.)
Broadcasting
Each assistant will:
· Broadcast three innings of radio play-by-play & six innings of color commentary for half of RoughRiders home games and select road games.
· Broadcast up to six innings of radio play-by-play during televised home games (at least ten during 2016 season)
· Host pre- and postgame shows /engineer for approximately 70 games
· Interview players & coaches for radio broadcasts and team publications
· Write game logs, in-game promotional reads, and oversee traffic for sponsors
· Assist in creating and producing audio elements, including highlights, interviews, commercials & radio imaging for the RoughRiders Radio Network
· Assist in reporting for RoughRiders video content in-park and online
The ideal candidates should:
· Have at least one season of radio play-by-play and media relations experience (preference given to affiliated baseball)
· Possess strong character, be reliable and trustworthy
· Be a team player and self-starter with professional interests extending beyond the nightly game broadcast
· Demonstrate strong writing and editing skills with great attention to detail
· Excel at verbal communication
· Have ability to handle multiple projects at once and maintain high quality of work in a professional and sometimes stressful setting
· Be willing to learn, work well with others and have a good attitude
· Be dependable with reliable transportation and clean driving record
· Be able to lift over 50 lbs. and stand or walk for long periods of time in adverse weather including rain and heat
· Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, audio editing software, broadcast equipment, and Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe InDesign
· Experience with MiLB’s Homebase preferred
